Hey there....

This question can be solved by SAS congruence rule.

Given: First we have a triangle ABC and AD is an altitude that bisects BC... so that means AD bisects BC at 90 degree....

To prove: triangle ABC is isosceles.

Proof: In triangle ADB and ADC,

==> AD = AD [Common]

    Angle ADB = Angle ADC [Each 90]

   BD = BC [Given]

Therefore... triangle ADB and triangle ADC are congruent by SAS rule...

So, angle ABD = angle ACD [CPCT]

Therefore, since the opposite angles are equal...using the theorem SIDES OPPOSITE TO EQUAL ANGLES ARE EQUAL we can say that AB = AC...

Hence, ABC is an isosceles triangle..

Hope it helps.. :)
