The depth of the shadow will be same as the distance of the the cloud from the surface of the lake
Here,AP= 60m is the height of the point of the obsevation.QC=h+60 m is the cloud from surface of the lake .QP =h + 60 m is the depth of the shadow
In triangle AMC
tan 30 = CM/MA
1/√3 = h/MA
MA = √3h ...............(1)
In triangle AMB
tan60 = BM/MA
√3 = 60 + h + 60/ MA
MA = 120 + h/ √3 ...................(2)
From equation (1) and (2)
√3h = 120 + h/√3
3h = 120 + h
2h = 120
h = 60 m
Height of the cloud from the surface of the lake QC = h + 60 = 60 + 60 = 120m
Hence the height of the cloud from the surface
of the lake is 120 m
