1] The news of partition of Bengal not only spread in Bengal but also all over India.

2] 16 October, the day of partition, was observed as National Mourning Day.

3] There were protest meetings all over India to condemn the Government's decision.

4] Vande Mataram came to be sung everywhere.

5] As a symbol of unity, Raksha Bandhan programs were held.

6] Students in large number boycotted Government schools and colleges and participated in the movement.

7] The movement was organized under the leadership of Surendranath Banerjee, Anand Mohan Bose, Rabindranath Tagore and such other leaders.

8] This led to the increase of extent of members in Indian National Congress.

9] This movement became national movement.

10] Owing to the severity of the dissatisaction, the British cancelled the partition of Bengal.
