1)The pass marks of any subject is 40% .Anil gets 85,5 marks above the pass marks . Find the maximum marks.

2)15% increased price of a paint is Rs.1380 .Find the original price.

3)In an examination 90% of students passed out of the 150 students.Find the number of students failed in examination.

1) 85-5=80 are the pass marks
let y be the total marks
y × 40% =80

 y \times \frac{40}{100}  = 80 \\ y = 200

2)let y be the original price
y + (y \times  \frac{15}{100} ) = 1380 \\ \frac{115y}{100}  = 1380 \\ y =  \frac{1380 \times 100}{115}  \\ y = 1200
3)150 × (90/100) = 135 members passed
so no. of students failed = 150-135=15
