Explanation:

We know, angle of incidence = angle of refraction.

Let's take angle of incidence = i and angle of refraction = r.

In 1)

i = 90°- 40° = 50°

(Angle between normal and i = 50° -- Angle between base line and incident ray = 40°.

And 40° + i = 90° ...... So i = 50°)

And r= i= 50°

In 2)

i + r = 60°

or, i + i = 60°. (Since i = r)

or, 2×i = 60°

or, i = 60°/2 = 30° = r

In 3)

i + r = 90°

or, i + i = 90°. (Since i = r)

or, 2×i = 90°

or, i = 90°/2 = 45° = r
