a) The ice-cold water enables the water vapours to condense and you obtain pure water in the second test tube.

b) If the glass arm does not reach far down into the second test tube, the water vapours may escape out of the test tube. So, it must reach down to obtain the pure water.

c) i) Evaporation occurs in the first test tube.

ii) Condensation occurs in the second test tube.

d) This seperation method is called distillation.

e) Salt crystals will be obtained from the first test tube.
