Here , seg AD is the median,

BD = CD = BC /2 ,

Now , angle ADC is an obtuse angle

Therefore, By application of Pythagoras theorem.

AC ^2 = AD^2 + 2 x BD x DM + CD^2

AC ^2 = AD^2 +2 x BC / 2 x DM + (BC / 2 )^2

AC ^2 = AD^2 +BC x DM x (BC/2) ^ 2

Hence proved
