The ratio of income of two persons is 11:7 and the ratio of their expenditures is 9:5. If each of them manages to save Us 400 per month, find their monthly incomes.

Let Incomes be 11x and 7x

and Expenditures be 9y and 5y

hence, savings of Ist man = 11x-9y = 400 -----------(1)

similarly Savings of IInd man = 7x-5y = 400 ----------(2)

On, solving (1) and (2)

x = 200

and y = 200

Hence, monthly incomes are 11(200) and 7(200)

= Rs. 2200 and Rs. 1400
