Answer:

rusting is a coting or covering of iron oxide on iron ojects it's usually reddish brown colour it's form due to presence of oxygen in air when oxygen reacts with iron it form rust on it and the formula is Fe2O3 and prevention form rusting is coloring or painting on iron ojects because paint prevents from rusting other method is oiling and greasing and using iron alloy

Answer:

When acidic substances (including water) come in contact with metals, such as iron and/or steel, rust begins to form. Rust is the result of corroding steel after the iron (Fe) particles have been exposed to oxygen and moisture (e.g., humidity, vapour, immersion).

Chemical Reaction:-

2Fe3 + (aq) + 4H2O(l) → Fe2O3H2O(s) + 6H +(aq)

Ways to prevent rusting:

1) Paint the Metal: A good quality paint will slow down rusting by preventing moisture from reaching the metal.

2) Use an Alloy: The use of alloys, like stainless steel, is one of the most common ways to prevent rust, or slow it down.

3) Apply Oil: A coating of oil will help to prevent rust or slow it down, since it inhibits moisture from reaching the iron in the metal.

4) VCI Packaging: Vapour Corrosion Inhibitors (VCI) are a type of chemical compound that when infused into various packaging materials, protect metals by emitting rust eradicating vapours into an enclosed air space to prevent corrosion on a metal surface.

Hope this helps!!
