1) The poet was very happy to see the snake at his water trough and he ignored the voice of education that a golden snake should be killed because it is poisonous. Later on, as the snake withdraws itself and moves towards its hole, the poet feels betrayed by it. He wanted the snake to continue drinking water and he is aroused from his trance by the voice of his education and so he tries to kill the snake by throwing a log at it.
3)The Mariners were saved from the land of ice and snow by an Albatross, which guided them away from the perilous landscape.
