a.) = The grandmother actually hated music. She was a conservative old lady who had her own beliefs and superstitions. She thought that music was meant only for prostitutes and beggars. ... Music was not meant for school children from respectable families.
b.) = In the month of September the laburnum tree appears yellow in colour due to drying up of leaves. It shines in bright yellow colour due to sunshine.
c.) = The narrator along with his wife wanted to duplicate the round-the-world journey by Captain Cook. It had been his life-long dream that he wanted to follow the footprints of the famous explorer captain Cook.
d.) = The first leg of their journey passed pleasantly. Their troubles started when they moved out of Cape Town. But even hostile weather couldn't dampen their spirits. Though the weather changed for the worse on the New Year's Day, they all participated in its celebrations.
