I have seen my grandfather was drunked when they came home today at morning, how can they be dead. I was feeling sad as well as little bit confused that instead of mourn the elders are started dividing things and thinking what should they give to the editor of the newspaper to print the news of the mourning of the grandfather and also talking about that where they have went to the morning my mom said that they went to pay his insurance premium. But the point is that nobody is thinking about the grandfather. After sometime when I told my mom that I saw grandfather walking down but they said to me that I am gone fool. After sometime when realised that I was telling truth they got sacred that how can this be possible as he was dead. My told me that you were the only one vicky who did not want anything from me, this the memorable moment in that day.

Dear Diary

I am quite confused by the behaviour of the elders towards my grandfather. As soon as they found him to be dead, it was as if mother was in a hurry to divide Grandpa's belongings. She informed Aunt Elizabeth who arrived along with uncle. To my shock, none of them were feeling sad about the departed soul. Rather they started fighting for Grandpa's properties. Is this what we call love and affection ? Bureau, grandpa's slippers and many other things were gaining priority at that moment. My mother and aunt forgot that their father was dead. They were being so materialistic. It was a terrible experience. Thank God! Grandpa is still alive. Now I wonder would they accept if I pay them back in the same coin.

The postmaster in the story 'The Letter' was a very practical man. He used to think Ali as a pest. He had no feeling of sympathy for him or his circumstances. But then times changed and his own daughter fell ill. She lived in another city. He wanted to know about her well-being but was fully dependent on the letter of his daughter that would inform him about it. It was at this moment that he realized Ali's pain as he himself felt it. He felt ashamed of his behaviour of calling Ali a pest. One day, while he was looking for his daughter's letter in the heap of latest arrival of letters, he found Miriam's letter in it. He decided to deliver it to Ali himself. Ali came at the usual hour. He talked to him but was later informed that Ali was dead. He was shocked. He decided to go personally to his grave to deliver the letter. Thus, the story teaches us to empathize with others
