Marasmus is the extreme form of malnutrition which is caused because of energy deficiency in the body. It mainly happens to the children because of the lack of food intake of them. A child suffering from Marasmus looks emaciated and the weight of the body gets reduced to less than 60%of the normal body weight for that particular age. The cause of Marasmus is the lack of nutrient in the body. Children who do not consume enough protein, carbohydrates, calories and other essential nutrients became prey to it. As a remedy for the above, the child needs to have an intake for skim milk powder with boiled water regularly. Intake of a balanced diet and the food which contains a lot of nutrient content in it should be provided to the child.
