When the doctor advised the narrator to relax, the three friends. i.e., George, Harris and the narrator decided to go for a short holiday. Then, Harris suggested a trip. The narrator was against a short sea trip because he felt that in a sea trip, one can’t take rest. According to him, a week at sea would be a waste because by the time one got over with sea sickness, it was time to reach back. The days pass very quickly from Monday to Sunday. He says that on Monday, one starts his journey with a happy mood, on Tuesday he wishes he had not come, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, totally fed up, on Saturday he feels ailing and on Sunday, one recovers a little. By the time one gets over with sea sickness and settles on the ship so that he may start enjoying and resting, it is next Monday and you are back on the shore. He held it a bitter experience which, in a nutshell, turned out to be a wastage of time and money.

Jerome K. Jerome was a young man with brown hair. He hated work though he thought himself to be a hard worker. Rather, he was a very lazy person. He had nothing against work but he doesn’t want to work. He just liked to sit and looked at the work being done by others. He loved watching other people slogging. He liked to look at men working and to give them instructions and wise words about how to get the work done. He calls it his energetic nature to supervise the work done by somebody else. He enjoyed himself bossing over others with his hands in his pockets clearly indicating his reluctance for any work. He never realized that by bossing, he was making it difficult for others. He always felt that hard jobs were meant for the youngsters and not for him.

The king and his secretary of Lilliput sought Gulliver’s help for the Blefuscan attack on Lilliput to which Gulliver agreed. He devised a plan and ordered fifty metal hooks. Then, he fastened them to a piece of strong rope. Carrying the rope and the hooks, he swam to Blefuscu. The Blefuscans got frightened of him and jumped out of their ships to swim to the beach. Gulliver used one hook for each ship and tied all the ropes together. The Blefuscan arrows could not deter Gulliver’s spirit. He captured the enemy fleet and started walking through the waves, pulling all the enemy’s warships behind him. The enemies made terrible cries but Gulliver kept on pulling the warships and reached Lilliput safely.

The king’s palace at Lilliput was a nice example of Lilliputians planning and execution. It was located in the middle of the city where two streets crossed each other. The palace was enclosed by a strong wall which was three or four feet high. Gulliver stepped over the wall and viewed every side of the palace. The outward court was a square. There were royal apartments in it. The gates were eighteen inches high and seven inches wide. They were suitable for the tiny people of Lilliput. The buildings of the other court were five feet high. They were strongly built of stone. Gulliver himself was very much impressed with the beauty of the palace of Lilliput.
