Dear Diary
I am very upset and disappointed today. I was informed by my parents in the morning that my grandfather is dead. It was a terrible news. I was shocked as it was an unexpected news. But more shocking was the behaviour of my parents especially my mother. She turned out to be a materialistic lady who was more concerned about the bureau and the clock in grandfather’s room rather than the dead grandfather. I had never thought that my parents, uncle and aunt are greedy. Today, I found that each one of them was interested in benefits that they could get after grandfather’s death rather than in the old man himself. I am disillusioned by their materialistic attitude. Why don’t they realize the importance of fatherly affection and love ? I love my grandfather and thank God that he is not dead. I always look towards him whenever I’m troubled. His experience and knowledge always helps me come out smoothly from my problems. I hope ma, pa and others will soon understand the value of parents’ love and give grandpa his due regard and respect in the future.

Dear Archit
Yesterday, I read a beautiful poem written by Shakespeare, ‘Not Marble, Nor the Gilded Monuments’. It is a sonnet which has fourteen lines in all. It highlights the smallness of our existence, our achievements and our false glory. After reading the poem I realised that ‘art’ is immortal whereas ‘time’ is very powerful. It leaves its marks on everything. Nobody can fight time. The poem has left a deep imprint on my mind. I have developed a great interest in poetry and will try to read some more poems.

jaspreetsinghhhh: was a good student as she learns with full dedication. She was able to read Kannada alphabets by the due date. It so happened that the grandmother resolved to learn to read and write by Saraswati Pooja Day during Dussehra. And she met her deadline with her hard work. When the narrator gave her the gift of the book 'Kashi Yatra', she immediately read its title and the name of its publisher. Thus, the narrator felt happy that her student had passed with flying co lours.

The two lovers meet their end in this poem is really very sad and tragic. They decided to elope because Lord Ullin was against their love. The boatman rowed them over the ferry. But the waves were strong and fierce due to the tempest. The water was rising high to the skies. Lord Ullin had reached the shore. He was crying as the seastorm was going to drown them. He called his daughter back because his fatherly instinct lay heavy on him.But the sea waves soon overpowered them and drowned them.
