Explanation:

  • Autotrophic organisms make their own food by a process called photosynthesis. Green plants, for example, manufacture sugar and starch from carbon dioxide and water using the energy of sunlight to drive the necessary chemical reactions. Heterotrophic organisms obtain their food from the bodies of other organisms.
  • Saprotrophic nutrition :- When the organism obtain its food from decaying organic matter of plants, dead animals, etc. Example :- fungi, etc. Parasitic nutrition :- When the organism derives its food from another living organism (host) without killing it.
  • Iodine solution is used to test leaves for the presence of starch. You need to: heat a plant leaf in boiling water for 30 seconds (this stops its chemical reactions) heat it in boiling ethanol for a few minutes (this removes most of its colour)
  • Photosynthesis, the process by which green plants and certain other organisms transform light energy into chemical energy. During photosynthesis in green plants, light energy is captured and used to convert water, carbon dioxide, and minerals into oxygen and energy-rich organic compounds.

Answer:

1. To get energy and perform life processes.

2. Organisms which derive nutrition from the body of other living organisms are called parasites.

Organisms which derive nutrition from dead and decaying matter are called saprotrophs.

3. Iodine solution is used to test leaves for the presence of starch. You need to: heat a plant leaf in boiling water for 30 seconds (this stops its chemical reactions) heat in boiling ethanol for a few minutes (this removes most of its colours).

4. The process by which plants make food in green plants is called photosynthesis. Photo means light and synthesis means to build, so photosynthesis means building up by light. It is in the presence of chlorophyll that plants use energy of sunlight to make food from inorganic materials like carbon dioxide and water.

5. The above diagram.
