♧Question♧

  • A simple pendulum of length l carries a bob of mass m. if the breaking strength of the string is 2mg,the maximum angular amplitude from the vertical can be_________

♧Answer♧

Given data:-

  • ➠Strength of the string = 2mg

To find:-

  • ➠Maximum angular amplitude = ?

Solution:-

As we know , the maximum tension is at the lowest point.

  • ➠Tmax = 2 m g
  • ➠T- mg = mv²/l
  • ➠2mg – mg = mv²/l
  • ➠v = √(gl)

By applying energy conservation.

  • mgh = mv²/2
  • mgl ( 1 - cosθ ) = (m/2)(√(lg))²
  • gl- glcosθ = (m/2)(√(lg))²
  • gl/2 = glcosθ
  • ➠1/2 = cosθ
  • ➠θ = 60° Ans

So the Maximum angular amplitude from its vertical can be 60°.
