Answer: a cell is known as a structural unit of life because it has a

definite structure and a defence mechanism built within itself like cell membrane and many other cell organelles . the second reason is that the definite shape and volume of the cell.

a cell is known as the functional unit of life because even a single cell can perform various functions which a whole body does ;like excreation,respiration,digestion,circulationand many more.
