First bring the charged rod near one of the sphere
Let us assume that +ve side od thw charge come near one of these sphere it will force - ve charges of both the sprhere to one becoz when we bring a rod near the sphere electrons will induce and shifts the positive and negative charges on the edge sides. Now both spheres gets positive and negative charges.

Now seperate them by moving one of the insulating stands.
