Answer:

1.Plants are really important for the planet and for all living things. Plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen from their leaves, which humans and other animals need to breathe. Living things need plants to live - they eat them and live in them. Plants help to clean water too.

2.The three primary parts of a seed are the embryo, endosperm, and seed coat. The embryo is the young multicellular organism before it emerges from the seed. The endosperm is a source of stored food, consisting primarily of starches. The seed coat consists of one or more protective layers that encase the seed.

3.All seeds need water, oxygen, and proper temperature in order to germinate. Some seeds require proper light also. Some germinate better in full light while others require darkness to germinate. When a seed is exposed to the proper conditions, water and oxygen are taken in through the seed coat.

4. a. Dispersal of seeds is very important for the survival of plant species. If plants grow too closely together, they have to compete for light, water and nutrients from the soil. Seed dispersal allows plants to spread out from a wide area and avoid competing with one another for the same resources.

4. b.There are five main modes of seed dispersal: gravity, wind, ballistic, water, and by animals. Some plants are serotinous and only disperse their seeds in response to an environmental stimulus.

5.keeping animals and growing crops for food; farming.

1)How are plants useful to us?

Plants are useful to us by following ways:

  1. Plants provide us food, medicines, paper, wood, cotton etc.
  2. They absorb carbon dioxide and releases oxygen from their leaves which help humans and other animals to breathe.

2)Name the different parts of a seed.Draw a diagram and label the parts.

The different parts of seed include: (Diagram in attachment)

  • Seed coat
  • Endosperm
  • Embryo

3)Name the condition necessary for germination.

Condition necessary for germination:

  • Suitable temperature, water(moisture), Air (oxygen) and sunlight are necessary for seed germination.

  • Suitable temperature- Most flowering plants germinates best in cool-weather,as they germinate best at temperature that range form 45-60° Fahrenheit.

4)Why must seed be dispersed? What are the different agents of dispersal?

Dispersal. Many plants scatter their seeds in order to ensure that they do not grow too close to one another.

The different agents of dispersal:

  • Wind dispersal
  • Water dispersal
  • Animal dispersal

5)What is agriculture?

Agriculture is the art and science of cultivating the soil, growing crops and raising livestock. It includes the preparation of plant and animal products for people to use and their distribution to matters.
