x + y = 60 ... Equation i

x = y/2

Put value of x in Equation i we have

y/2 + y = 60

3y = 120

y = 40

Now, put value of y in Equation i we get

x = 20

So, present age of son is 20years.

And

present Age of his father is 40years.
