Answer:

9.6 m

Step-by-step explanation:

Let R, S and M represent the position of Reshma, Salma and  Mandeep respectively.

Draw perpendicular OL on RS.

As OL ⊥ RS,

OL^2 = OR^2 - RL^2

=> OL^2 = 5^2 - 3^2

=> OL^2 = 25 - 9

=> OL^2 = 16

=> OL = 4

Now we know,

Area of triangle = 1/2 * B * H

Area ΔORS = 1/2 * KR * OS = 1/2 * KR * 5   ---- (1)

Also,

Area ΔORS = 1/2 * OL* RS = 1/2 * 4 * 6 = 12   ---- (2)

Solve (1) and (2).

=> 1/2 * KR * 5 = 12

=> KR = 24/5

=> KR = 4.8 m

As the perpendicular from the centre of a circle bisects the chord.

RM = 2KR

RM = 2 * 4.8

RM = 9.6 m

Result :

Distance between Reshma and Mandip = 9.6 m.
