Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

A card is drawn randomly from a deck of cards of 52

To find :-

Find the probability that a card is drawn,

1) An Ace

2) A Red

3)A Red King

4) 2 of a Spade

Solution :-

Given that

Total number of cards in a deck of cards = 52

Total number of all possible outcomes = 52

1) Probability of getting an Ace :-

Number of Aces in the deck of cards = 4

(Ace of Spades , diamonds, clubs,hearts )

Number of favourable outcomes = 4

We know that

Probability of an event E = P(E)

= Number of favourable outcomes/ Total number of all possible outcomes

Probability of getting an Ace = P(A)

=> 4/52

=> 1/13

P(A) = 1/13

2) Probability of getting an A Red Card :-

Number of Red cards in the deck of cards = 26

( diamonds-13 ,hearts-13 )

Number of favourable outcomes = 26

We know that

Probability of an event E = P(E)

= Number of favourable outcomes/ Total number of all possible outcomes

Probability of getting a Red card = P(R)

=> 26/52

=> 1/2

P(R) = 1/2

3) Probability of getting a Red King :-

Number of Kings in red in the deck of cards = 2

(Kings in diamonds-1,hearts-1 )

Number of favourable outcomes = 2

We know that

Probability of an event E = P(E)

= Number of favourable outcomes/ Total number of all possible outcomes

Probability of getting a red king = P(K)

=> 2/52

=> 1/26

P(K) = 1/26

4)Probability of getting 2 of Spades :-

Number of 2s in Spades in the deck of cards = 1

Number of favourable outcomes = 1

We know that

Probability of an event E = P(E)

= Number of favourable outcomes/ Total number of all possible outcomes

Probability of getting 2 of Spades = P(2)

=> 1/52

P(2) = 1/52

Answer:-

1) Probability of getting an Ace = 1/13

2) Probability of getting an A Red Card =1/2

3)Probability of getting a Red King = 1/26

4) Probability of getting 2 of Spades = 1/52

Used formulae:-

  • Probability of an event E = P(E)
  • P(E) = Number of favourable outcomes/ Total number of all possible outcomes

Points to know:-

  • There are 52 playing cards in a deck of cards.
  • Black cards 26 , Red cards = 26
  • Black cards are divided into two suits . They are Clubs (13) and Spades (13)
  • Red cards are divided into two suits .They are Diamonds (13) amd Hearts (13).
  • There are 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,A,J,Q,K in every suit .
  • J,Q,K are called Face cards .
  • Total face cards = 12
