Let the breadth be x metre
so the length = x+5 metre
x × (x+5) = 24 m²
x² + 5x = 24
x² + 5x - 24 = 0
x²+8x-3x-24 = 0
x(x + 8) - 3( x + 8 ) = 0
x - 3 = 0 or x+8 = 0
x = 3 or x = -8
neglecting x = -8 because length cannot be negative
so breadth = x = 3m
and length = x+5 = 3+5 = 8m
so the length = x+5 metre
