it's help u..
actually we usually connect the negative terminal to the item to be plated metallic ions .(positivity charged "cations")in the solution are attracted to the cathode (negative electrode),where they combine
with surplus electrons to form metal atoms.
at the anode (positive electrode)metallic atoms are stripped of some electrons ,then dissolving into solution as ions .this is why the anode is frequently referred to as the sacrificial electrode.
