apply distance formula

as given distance between P & Q is 13 units

P(5,-3) and Q(-7,y)

here,

X=5; Y= -3

x= -7 ; y = ?

PQ= √(X-x)²+(Y-y)²

13=√{5-(-7)}²+(-3-y)²

(13)²= (5+7)²+(-3-y)²

169=(12)²+9-6y+y²

169=144+9-6y+y²

169=153-6y+y²

169-153= -6y+y²

16+6y-y²=0

y²+6y-16=0

y²+2y-8y+16=0

y(y+2)-8(y+2)=0

(y+2)(y-8)=0

so

y+2=0

y= -2

or

y-8=0

y=8

therefore the value of y can be -2 or 8

plzzzz mark this as brainliest answer
