When a living plant cell looses water through osmosis then there is shrinkage and contraction of the content of the cell away from the cell wall this is called PLASMOLYSIS.

Cellulose is a complex structure .It provides structural strength to the cell wall.

Due to flexible cell membrane the cell can engulf food from outside surroundings and can also enter and exit substances according to the requirement of cell.

HOPE THIS HELPS.

a) plasmolysis is when a plant cell is placed in a hypertonic solution, the protoplasm shrinks and due to cell wall is rigid, it does not change its shape and the shrunken protoplasm remains in a corner within the cell wall... this state is plasmolysis....
b) actually cell wall is made up of cellulose so it protects the cell from getting damaged and it is very hard to digest cellulose. cellulose is called roughage that should be present in our diet. so many times due to toughness of cellulose the cell does not die after an animal eats it.... this is the cause why dispersal of seeds through animal can occur...
c) due to flexibility of cell membrane certain cells like amoeba can move. if cell wall was not flexible we couldn't move our joints because the joints contains cartilage which has to be flexible for absorbing friction and or bones do not get worn out...
