Answer in brief. What was the effect of the second World war on India
Answers
The World War 2 comprised of not only the Axis powers (Germany, Italy and Japan ) and Allied powers (USA, UK, former USSR and China ) but also the various colonies of the "Big four" or the allied powers. Thus India which was a colony of UK then was bought into the war. The other four powers actually forced UK to involve India in the war on their side because of its immense man power. Thus India ended up being drawn into the war on the Allied side and lost quite a lot of her people.
That was the negative impact of the war. But India's involvement in the World War 2 bought in more advantages than disadvantages. The most important of which was her independence. After Britain lost in the second world war, its economy was shattered and it diverted most of her resources to rehabilitation rather than maintaining a stronghold over India.
Also, USA emerged as a super power and it sympathized with India's demand for freedom.
These events along with Quit India Movement launched by the Indian leaders eventually culminated in India's independence in 1947, 2 years after the end of the 2nd world war.
