Answer:

Moderates

Extremist

Moderates believed in Liberalism and Moderate Politics. They believed that the British rulers were merely unaware of the plight of the Indian masses and that once they were made aware the British authorities would do their utmost to improve the lives of the local populace.

The moderates found their support base in the Zamindars and the upper-middle-class

Moderates wanted greater autonomy and self-rule while still under the nominal rule of the British crown

Answer:

Moderates:

They were seen in the early phase of Congress between 1885-1905. They were moderate in their functions and objectives. They were very soft towards British and never demanded independence as they believed in constitutional methods like writting letters to officials. Some famous moderates we're MG Ranade and Dadabhai Naoroji.

Extremists:

Extremists were seen in later phase of Congress when the way of moderates seems not to work. Thus they also criticized moderates. They used a bold way to fight like boycotting British goods and mass demonstration. They demanded Swaraj. Some famous leaders were Lala Lajpat Rai, Bipin Chandra Pal and Gangadhar Tilak.(Lal-Bal-Pal)
