Methane, Hydrogen and little carbon dioxide is produced when coal is burnt in the absence of air to make coke.

If one burns coal in the presence of air, it will not turn to coke but will produce heat and turn to ashes.

The pure form of carbon is coke.

The extraction of metals from their ores depends upon the nature of the metal and varies from metal to metal.

The process of electrolysis or reduction can either extract them.
