as we know that boiling point of kerosene is 150° - 180° , while boiling point of petrol is 95° .

So ,

while separating take distillation flask and at the cap place thermometer with closed lid containing

the mixture of kerosene and petrol . heat the the mixture slowly , because the boiling point of petrol is low as compare to kerosene so petrol will vapourize faster and get condensed in water condenser and petrol get collected in beaker and kerosene remain in distillation flask.
