Given,

Distance of the star from Earth, d= 8.1 × 10^13 km = 8 × 10^13 × 10^ 3 m = 8.1 × 10^16 m

( 1 km = 10^3 m/s)

Speed of light, c = 3 × 10^8 m/s

Time taken by the light to reach the star = ?

We have,

Speed = Distance / time

=> Time = Distance / Speed

•°• Time taken = (8.1 × 10^16)/(3×10^8)

= 8.1 × 10^8 × 10^8 / 3×10^8

= 8.1 × 10^8/3

= 81 × 10^8/30

= 81/3 × 10^7

= 27 × 10^7 sec

= 27/10 × 10 × 10^7

= 2.7 × 10^8
