firstly we will take the LCM then we will equal the denominator after and we will separate positive and negative fraction then we will apply BODMSD rule and it will be solved and we can also cancelled if it is cancelling

➤ Answer :-

{\tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{2}{3} + \dfrac{( - 4)}{5} - \dfrac{( - 14)}{15}}

According to the BODMAS rule, first we should add the fractions given above...........

{\tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{2}{3} + \dfrac{( - 4)}{5}}

Convert them into like fractions by taking the LCM of the denominators i.e, 3 and 5...........

LCM of 3 and 5 is 15.

{\tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{2 \times 5}{3 \times 5} + \dfrac{( - 4) \times 3}{5 \times 3}}

{\tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{10}{15} + \dfrac{( - 12)}{15} = \dfrac{10 + ( - 12)}{15}}

{\tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{( - 2)}{15}}

Now, subtract the other number with obtained answer..........

{\tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{( - 2)}{15} - \dfrac{( - 14)}{15}}

Here, the given fractions are having same denominators i.e, they are like fractions so we can subtract them easily..........

{\tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{( - 2) - ( - 14)}{15} = \dfrac{( - 2) + 14}{15}}

{\tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{12}{15}}

\Huge\therefore The answer is {\tt\dfrac{12}{15}}

More to know................

  • While adding or subtracting the fractions, if the given fractions are unlike fractions we should convert them into like fractions by taking the LCM of the denominators.
  • While adding or subtracting the fractions, if the given fractions are like fractions we can solve them easily by looking to the numerators.
