It is given that ,
a + b = 10 ----( 1 )
a² + b² = 58 ----( 2 )
We know the algebraic identity :
a² + b² + 2ab = ( a + b )²
=> 58 + 2ab = 10² [ from (1)&(2)]
=> 2ab = 100 - 58
=> 2ab = 42
=> ab = 42/2 = 21
ab = 21 ------( 3 )
Now ,
a³ + b³ = ( a + b )³ - 3ab(a+b)
= 10³ - 3 × 21 × 10
= 1000 - 630
= 370
Therefore ,
a³ + b³ = 370
