Explanation:
What I did was buy a guitar, actually 9 of them, but one will suffice. I spend 2–3 hours a day practicing and playing along with songs. These days you can plug your smart phone into an amp and play along. You do not even need an amp if you connect your guitar to your computer with an interface. Then you can download software to record and make your guitar sound like all the songs you hear on the radio.
I have turned my iMac into a recoding studio capable of producing studio quality recordings. The software comes with hundreds of sounds and I can attach a midi keyboard to my computer and make it sound like a full orchestra is playing. Lots of fun to make special Happy Birthday songs for my Facebook friends and family.
I also subscribe to Kindle so I always have something to read. I subscribed to Apple New’s full service which gives me access to a lot of magazines. That kills and hour or two a day right there. I have Netflix, Hulu, Xfinity and Amazon Prime for movies and shows. Only watch them for 2–3 hours a day.
I surf the internet and post here and many other places that cater to my hobbies. Now is a good time to learn new things that may be helpful in life. Don’t squander your time. Learn something that will help you in life, school or a job. I once had a lot of time on my hands because my wife was ill and bedridden. So I decided to take a test for a professional license in my new job. I was a clerk just learning the business. The license usually took a minimum or 10 years of experience and had a 3% pass rate at the time. Everyone told me it was a waste of time to take the test with less than a year of experience. The office had 3 older people who worked there for over 10 years and none have been able to pass the test.
I had the time since I had to stay home when not working so I bought the regulation books and learned it over 10 months. Took the test and to everyone’s surprise, passed. I was the second youngest person ever to pass that test and the youngest person holding the license at that time. I was 21. I was promoted to branch manager. My wife got better and I was transferred to another State. My wife had to take it easy for a few months so she stayed behind with her mother to take are of her. She was OK with this and had the final word. In the end it was the start of a career that made us a lot of money and gave us a great and exciting life.
I used my idle time to learn something that improved my life. Find something that would be useful to you. It is those that do something to improve themselves that succeed in life. Those who sit around waiting for life to give them something, ultimately get what they deserve, not what they need.
