The area of these 2 boxes would be length × breadth =

2×(3×90)=540 sq cm.[3×90 for each box]

The area of this box would be length×breadth= 120×3 =360 sqcm.

But there are 2 overlapping square areas of side 3cm in the junction of the vertical and horizontal boxes.The area of each of these boxes = 3×3 =9sq cm.

There are 2 of them,so, 2× 9 = 18 sq cm.

Therefore,the actual area = 540 + 360 - 18 = 882 sq cm.
