Answer:

11)The two forces acting on the rocket immediately after leaving the launching pad are gravitational force and frictional force. The gravitational force acts downwards towards the earth and frictional force acts due to surrounding air.

12)nucleus

Chromosomes are thread-like structures located inside the nucleus of animal and plant cells. Each chromosome is made of protein and a single molecule of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). Passed from parents to offspring, DNA contains the specific instructions that make each type of living creature unique.

13)Two Thermocol balls held close to each other move away from each other, which is because of electrostatic force. The balls having similar charges move away due to repulsion between similar charges.

14)Gravitational force is acting downwards, and muscular force is applied by the hands lifting bucket upwards. Although these forces are acting on the bucket no change is found in its state of motion because the two forces are in the opposite direction & hence balancing each other.

15)The primary distinction between these two types of organisms is that eukaryotic cells have a membrane-bound nucleus and prokaryotic cells do not. ... The nucleus is only one of many membrane-bound organelles in eukaryotes. Prokaryotes, on the other hand, have no membrane-bound organelles.

16)Cells consist of many organelles, yet we do not call any of these organelles as structural and functional unit of living organisms. Explain. Answer: Although cell organelles have specific structures and perform specific functions but they cannot be called structural and functional units of living organisms.

11) The two forces acting on rocket are -

1. Force due to gravity acts vertically downward.

2. Force of puch acting upward.

12) The nucleus contains thread-like structures called chromosomes. Chromosomes play an important role in the inheritance of characters. They carry genes that help in the transfer of characters from the parents to the offspring.

13) When two thermocol balls are held close to each other, they move away from each other due to electrostatic force. As the balls contain similar charges, there exists a force of repulsion between them.

14) When we hold a bucket containing "water above the ground" in our hand in still position, two forces will act on it -

1) gravitational force

2) muscular force.

However, both the forces are acting on the opposite directions of the bucket - one to the upward direction (muscular force) and second to the downward direction (gravitational force). Thus, the "net worth of the forces" become zero.

Therefore, both the forces can't bring a change in the state of the bucket. This application is based on the "Newton's first law of motion".

15) Ans. Eukaryotes are organisms which contain well organised nucleus with nuclear membrane, e.g. humans.

Prokaryotes are those organisms which contain primitive nucleus (unorganised) without nuclear membrane, e.g. bacteria, blue-green algae.

16) Although cell organelles have specific structures and perform specific functions but they cannot be called structural and functional units of living organisms. This is so because they can perform their functions only when they are within a living cell. They cannot function outside the cell as an independent unit.
