Robespierre 6 May 1758 – 28 July 1794) was a French lawyer and politician, as well as one of the best known and most influential figures associated with the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror. As a member of the Estates-General, the Constituent Assembly and the Jacobin Club, Robespierre was an outspoken advocate for the poor and for democratic institutions. He campaigned for universal male suffrage in France, price controls on basic food commodities and the abolition of slavery in the French colonies. He was an ardent opponent of the death penalty, but played an important role in arranging the execution of many political opponents, and of King Louis XVI, which led to the establishment of a French Republic.

Traditional agriculture, which was the backbone of Goa's economy, providing a source of livelihood to a large number of people, is now rapidly declining. Several factors are responsible for this situation.



Firstly, the farming communities in Goa feel that traditional methods of growing paddy have become very uneconomical due to high labour charges for various agricultural operations.



The problem of high labour costs has been partly resolved by the Directorate of Agriculture by providing subsides for the mechanization of agriculture.
