Answer:

ab =  \frac{11}{4}  \:

b =  \frac{11}{4a}

a + b = 6

a +  \frac{11}{4a}  = 6

4 {a}^{2}  + 11 = 24a

4 {a}^{2}  - 24a + 11 = 0

4 {a}^{2}  - 2a - 22a + 11 = 0

2a(2a - 1) - 11(2a - 1) = 0

a =  \frac{11}{2} or \:  \frac{1}{2} \: and \: b =  \frac{1}{2}  or \:  \frac{11}{2}

so \: 2( {a}^{3}  -  {b}^{3} ) = 2( { \frac{11}{2} }^{3}  -  { \frac{1}{2} }^{3} ) = 2( \frac{1331 - 1}{8} ) = 332.5
