1. Louis XVI, also known as Louis Capet, was King of France from 1774 until his deposition in 1792, although his formal title after 1791 was King of the French. He was executed on the 21st of January 1793.

2. Abbe Sieyes was prominent member of National Assembly. Originally, he was a priest.

He wrote an influential pamphlet called, what is Third Estate? The representatives of the third estate assembled on 20 June in the hall of the indoor tennis court in the ground of Versailles. They declared themselves National Assembly. They were led by Mirabeau and Abbe Sieyes.

3.Jean-Jacques Rousseau was a Genevan philosopher, writer and composer. Born in Geneva, his political philosophy influenced the Enlightenment across Europe, as well as aspects of the French Revolution.

4.Montesquieu's full title was Baron de la Brede et de Montesquieu. He was a jurist, social philosopher and satirist and became the first great French man associated with the Enlightenment.

Montesquieu's best-known work is 'De l'esprit des lois' (The Spirit of Laws). He felt that tyranny resulted when all powers were controlled by one man.

5.John Locke was one of the most important and influential philosophers ever. The French Enlightenment drew heavily on his ideas, as did the Founding Fathers of the French Revolution.

John Locke was born in 1632 into a well-to-do Somerset family. He was educated at the prestigious Westminster School, London, and in 1652 went on to university at Christ Church, Oxford.

6.Camille Desmoulins(1760-1794) was a politician and writer, probably the best known journalist of the French Revolution. Desmoulins was born in a small town in Picardy, northern France; his father was a government magistrate.

7.Marseillaise was a patriotic song composed by poet Roget de L’ Isle.

8.Jacobin club belonged mainly to the less prosperous section of society.
It was a political club formed to discuss government policies and plan their own forms of action.

Louis XVI was a despotic ruler of France. He was a man of moderate intelligence and was obstinate. He was deposed during the French revolution in 1789, and subsequently, executed in 1793.

Mirabeau was born in a noble family but was convinced of the need to do away with a society of feudal privileges. He bought out a journal and delivered powerful speeches to the crowd assembled in Versailles.

John Locke in his book 'The treatises of Government' advocated the removal of a ruler who fails to live up to his end of the social contract. He sought to refute the doctrine of the divine and absolute right of the monarch.

Camille Desmoulins was a journalist and politician who played an importamt role in the French Revolution. He was a childhood friend of Maximilian Robespierre.

⭐Marseillaise⤵

Marseillaise is now the national anthem of France.The national assembly voted in April 1792 to declare war against Prussia and Austria. Thousands of volunteers thronged from the provinces to join the army. They saw this as a war of the people against kings and aristocrats all over Europe.

Among the patriotic songs was the song 'Marseillaise' composed by Roget de L'Isle. It was sung for the first time by volunteers from Marseilles as they marched into Paris.

⭐Jacobin Club⤵

Jacobin Club members mainly belonged to the less prosperous sections of society. The members of the club included small shopkeepers, artisans such as shoemakers, pastry cooks, watch-makers, printers, as well as servants and daily wage workers. Maximilian Robespierre was their leader.
