it consists the following member countries
India
Pakistan
Bangladesh
Afghanistan
Bhutan
Maldives
Nepal
Sri Lanka
it has following objectives:
1.to promote the welfare of south Asian population.
2.strengthen collective self reliance
3.acclerate economic growth,social progress
4.solvong the members problems
5.collaboration for promoting mutual assistance in the economic, social,cultural, technical and scientific fields.

Seven countries of South Asia have come together and formed the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and these countries were India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Maldives and Sri Lanka but recently, Afghanistan was included as the eighth member.
SAARC has been established with the objective of mutual economic and social development of the members countries.
It's principles are:
Respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, political equality and Independence of all the member countries.
Non- interference in internal affairs.
Cooperation for mutual benefit
All decisions to be taken unanimously, needing a quorum of all seven members.
All bilateral issues to be kept aside and only multilateral issues to be discussed without being carried out by bilateral issues.
