There is a difference in the way average is calculated in mathematics and the way it is calculated in cricket. Average of a batsman is the number of runs he scores, before he is dismissed, irrespective of the number of innings he has played.
Since the batsman has an average, it means that he has been dismissed at least once, otherwise he would have had undetermined average, after the fourth innings.
A. If he remains not out in the fifth innings:- The average will be calculated based on the number of dismissals in the previous innings.
