Length of the rod be h=5cm-----------(i)

Height of the wall be p=3cm-----------(ii)

Distance b/w foot of rod and wall b=to find

Since wall makes right angle with ground.

Therefore we can apply Pythagoras' Theorem here

From Pythagoras' Theorem

=>h²=p²+b²

But we have to find b

Putting all the values from equation (i) and (ii) we get:

=>(5cm)²=(3cm)²+b²

After solving you'll get b=4cm,which is your required answer.
