Step-by-step explanation:

Let the son's and father's present ages be x and y.

Equation1- x-7=7(y-7)

x-7=7y-49

x=7y-42

Equation 2-. x+3=3(y+3)

x=3y+6

Equating,

7y-42=3y+6

4y=48

y=12

so son's age is 12 years and father's age is 42 years

a+3=3b+9

a-3b=6

-4b=-48

b=12
