The average age of 4 students = 14

Let the age of the students be denoted by a, b, c and d.

a+b+c+d/4 = 14

a+b+c+d = 14*4

a+b+c+d = 56

The average age of the students and teacher = 14 + 3 = 17

Let the age of the teacher be e.

a+b+c+d+e/5= 17

a+b+c+d+e = 17*5

a+b+c+d+e = 85

We know that a+b+c+d = 56   (proved above)

56 + e = 85

e = 85 - 56

e = 29

Therefore the teacher is 29 years old.

hello mate let the age of four students be a b c and d respectively. then according to question
 \frac{a + b + c + d}{4}  = 14
and let the age of teacher be t then
 \frac{a + b + c + d + t}{5}  = 17
solving both equation we get t = 29
