Before solving this question, let me give the definition of terms used in this question.

Rational number : A number that can be written in the form ( p/q ), where q ≠ 0.
If ( p/q) is in its standard form then p and q will be co-prime numbers.

Now,

Let, the two numbers are x and y.

Given,

⇒Product of numbers = -7

One of them is ( -5 ), let x is ( -5 ).

⇒ xy = -7

⇒ ( -5 ) y = -7

⇒ y = ( -7 ) ÷ ( -5 )

•°• y = ( 7/5 )

Hence,the other number is ( 7/5 ).

Verification :

R.H.S = -7

L.H.S = ( 7/5 ) × ( -5 )

= ( 7 × -5 ) / 5

= ( 7 × -1 )

= -7

•°• R.H.S = L.H.S
