draw perpendicular from vertex to directrix. find foot of that perpendicular using formula. now as vertex is midpt of foot of perpendicular and focus, use section formula to get focus.
Take a PT (x,y) lying on parabola, and equate it's dist from directrix to it's dist from focus.
you'll get the eqn of parabola
