It is given that X burns in oxygen to form XO. Since the valency of oxygen is -2, we can find that the valency of X is +2.

1. When X reacts with Cl, it forms XCl2. (since +2 valency of X is satisfied by two -1 valency of Cl). The bond formed between them will be ionic.

2. When X reacts with Sulphur, it forms XS (since +2 valency of X is satisfied by one -2 valency of S). The bond formed is ionic in this case too.
