I presume that the question is asking for the longest length (in cm) of the square to be cut from the A4 paper. Otherwise, there will be a lot of possible answer, such as 1cm x 1cm, 2cm x 2cm, etc.

Prime Factorization

Length: 84 = 2^2 x 3 x 7

Breadth: 126 = 2 x 3^2 x7

HCF = 2 x 3 x 7 = 42

(i) length of each square = 42 cm

(ii) number of square = 2 x 3 = 6
