Question-1 solution :

\sf{a) \:\dfrac{49}{70} = \dfrac{7}{10} }

\sf{b) \:\dfrac{13}{117} = \dfrac{1}{9} }

\sf{c) \:\dfrac{169}{196} = \dfrac{169}{196} }

\sf{d) \:\dfrac{25}{81} = \dfrac{25}{81} }

Question-2 :

  • No. of CDs bought by Kristin = 3

  • No. of CDs received as gifts = 5

  • Total no. of CDs = 3 + 5 = 8

 \sf{ \therefore \:Fraction \: of \: CDs \: bought = \dfrac{3}{8} }

\sf{ \therefore \:Fraction \: of \: CDs \:gifted= \dfrac{5}{8} }

Question-3 :

  • Let two rupees coins are x in numbers.

  • So, one rupee coins are 3x in numbers.

According to question,

  • 1(3x) + 2(x) = 120

  • ⇒ 3x + 2x = 120

  • ⇒ 5x = 120

  • ⇒ x =  \dfrac{120}{5} = 24

  • Thus, 3 × 24 = 72

 \sf{\therefore \: 72 \: coins \: are \: \: of \: one \: rupee \: coins.}

Question-4 :

  • hence text book ratio is 5 :

  • if its 20 :

  • 5x = 20

  •  \sf{x =  \dfrac{20}{5} =4}

  • so x = 4

  • then pens ratio is 1

  • if the book os 20 the pen's ratio is :

  • x × pen's ratio :

  • 4 × 1 = 4

 \sf{\therefore \: if \: 20 \:books \: where \: orderd \: the \: pen \: is \: 4}

2 Question

kristin received a CD player for her birthday.She bought 3 CDs and received 5 others as gifts.What fraction of her total CDs did she buy and what fraction did she receive as gifts ?

Answer

Number of CDs purchased = 3

Fraction of CDs purchased = 3/8

Fraction of CDs received as gifts = 5/8

3 Question

In a bag,the number of one rupee coins is three times the number of two rupees coins.If the coins are worth rupee 120 in total,Find the number of one rupee coins.

Answer

Given

Number of rupee 1 coins is three times the number of rupee 2 coins.Total worth of the coins is rupee 120.

To Find

The number of rupee 1 coins.

Solution

Let the number of rupee 2 coins be x.

•°•The number of rupee 1 coins would be 3x

x = 3x

The value of of all the rupee 1 coins is rupee 1 × 3x = (1 × 3x)

Since,the total worth of the coins is rupee 120.

•°•(rupee 2 × x) + (rupee 1 × 3x) = rupee 120

→ 2x + 3x = 120

→ 5x = 120

\sf{ { {\cancel\frac{2x}{5}}}} = \sf{ \frac{120}{5}}

The number of rupee 2 coins is 24.

•°•The number of rupee 1 coins is 3 × 24 = 72

Hence,there are 72 one rupee coins in the bag.

4 Question

A shop ordered textbooks ,notebooks,and pens in the ratio 5:3:1.If 20 textbooks were ordered,How many pens were ordered ?

Answer

Given

Textbooks,Notebooks,and pens ordered by a shop are in ratio 5:3:1, respectively.

Number of textbooks ordered = 20

To Find

Number of pens ordered

Solution

The ratio of the number of textbooks to the number of pens ordered is 5:1.

Number of texbooks ordered : Number of pens ordered = 5 : 1.

 \sf{ \frac{20}{number \: of \: pens \: ordered}} = \frac{5}{1}

 \sf{ \frac{20}{number \: of \: pens \: ordered}} = \frac{5 × 4}{1 × 4}

 \sf{ \frac{20}{number \: of \: pens \: ordered}} = \frac{20}{4}

Hence,the number of pens ordered is 4.
